Volunteer!

Want to get involved?

We are always looking for dedicated volunteers who are passionate about preserving the past for the future.

The Society constantly has something that needs done. The Marshall County History Museum in Moundsville is 100% volunteer operated meaning that in order to stay open, we need a dedicated team of volunteers who are willing to put in some work to help preserve our history. Tasks such as accepting donations, cataloging artifacts, and ensuring we are open for the public are critical to making the Marshall County History Museum successful.

The Cockayne Farmstead could also use some helping hands. The house and grounds always need to be maintained and events require a lot of planning and day-of work to make sure the people attending leave with a smile on their face.

The Farmstead also is a go-to field trip destination for many local schools. During school groups, children have fun making Victorian crafts, playing games, and learning about Marshall County. Being a volunteer means you help create memories the kids will talk about for years to come. We also offer a Traveling Trunk program that we could use help with. Instead of the classes coming to us, we go to the class. There are two trunks, one for Victorian times and one for World War II, each with actual artifacts.
